Evaluation for my Magazine Front Cover

My magazine front cover was made from some ideas that I found from previous magazines from the  research I carried out on magazine front covers.

I chose to use colors like orange and yellow because they are bright colors that denote happiness and warmth. Orange has connotations of joy, represents enthusiasm and has invigorating effect  that stimulates mental activity, so the use of orange was to show determination and for it to look bright, however I think bright colors like orange should be used on a dark background instead of on a white plain background, as the colors don't stand out as much as I thought they would, so that would be my improvement on using dark fonts on a light background and on a dark background use light color fonts.

The picture that I took is of a medium close up of a peer who go's along with the 'Exchange Students' and the picture is on the right hand of the page as most magazines that I looked at had their image on the right, not as much on the left. Putting the picture on the right was because audiences tend to read from left to right, so I wanted my writing on the cover to have importance over the image. The use of silver as a color on the cover lines go's with the black writing under each cover line as the silver color has tints of black in.

I have used yellow for 'Gcse Results' so it doesn't stress students out, as Gcse's is a stressful word in itself, so I used yellow to bring warmth and joy so they have confidence in passing and revising. I used orange for 'Helpful Guide' although it doesn't stand out, the background isn't fully blue, hence the orange doesn't stand out, as it's a blue and white ban. I also used a issue number as some magazines use them and it look's professional to some extent although the size could have been a bit bigger. Also the writing I used under my cover lines are in capitals and in black as capitals express the need to pick it up and suggets seriousness, although it could have the connotations of shouting and being rude, but in this scenario it suggests importance.

However I think the wording of the cover lines is good to a extent but I could have done better with adding a background and using a different combination of colors like blue as the school has blue in it's logo, but I wanted to use different colors however it would have been better to use blue so it linked in with the context of a school magazine.
